Stewardship of this land is the core value at the base of all we do.

We actively work to restore and protect the complex ecosystem of this Pacific Northwest forest,

and all the flora and fauna that call it their home.

Whether you choose to rent our space for your event or are a guest at one of our programs,

visitors of all ages become a part of this mission, simply by entering through our front gates.

Thank you for being mindful of all your actions while on this land,

and for abiding by the simple rules we have put in place to support its preservation.

THE LAND

We humbly acknowledge that our programming is held on the traditional lands of the Molalla and Kalapuya people. We take this opportunity to offer respectful recognition to the Native communities in our region, and to those who have stewarded this land throughout the generations. We recognize the continual displacement of Native people by the United States and are committed to work on dismantling the ongoing effects of this settler colonial legacy. Please join us in gratitude for the contributions Indigenous peoples have and continue to make to our community, country, and world.

Establishing a practice of acknowledgment can be a powerful first step toward correcting the stories and practices that erase indigenous people’s history and culture. Through this simple gesture, we move toward inviting and honoring the truth, and countering the “doctrine of discovery” that our country was falsely founded upon.

Such statements become truly meaningful when coupled with authentic relationships and sustained commitment. Let us therefore consider how to move beyond words into programs and actions that fully embody a commitment to indigenous rights and cultural equity.

THE SPACE

Camp Colton offers unmatched access to magnificent natural wilderness complemented by beautifully refined facilities. Take a 45-minute drive outside Portland to this meticulously restored historic landmark. Amidst a mature forest and meandering creeks this indoor/outdoor venue boasts a gorgeous chapel/sanctuary; secluded outdoor gathering sites; an elegant reception hall complete with chef designed commercial kitchen, creekside bar, a patio and stage surrounded by majestic evergreens; and several rustic accommodations.

We invite you to schedule a tour and take a walk with one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff.

  • GROUNDS

Camp Colton sits on 85-acres of lush Pacific Northwest forest and holds the convergence of Canyon and Bee Creeks. Nestled within the tree canopy lies a hidden waterfall, trout pond and open meadows. Exploration abounds!

  • GATHERING HALL

In 1935 a kitchen/dining hall was erected on the west bank of Canyon Creek. Over the years, the dining hall served many meals to Renovated in 2017, the hall now provides a more sophisticated reception venue still holding rustic charm with updated amenities.

  • HISTORIC CHAPEL/SANCTUARY

Our unaffiliated Sanctuary began its life as a WWII-era chapel, and provides tradition and beauty for any occasion. Originally built for the US Army's Camp Adair near Corvallis, the building was dismantled in 1948 and brought to Camp Colton, where it was painstakingly reassembled, board-by-board, and restored on site. As the first human-made structure you see when you enter through the front drive, the Sanctuary sets a peaceful and majestic tone that fits perfectly with the soaring firs around Camp.

ACCESSIBILITY

Camp Colton is committed to being a welcoming space for all bodies, including deaf, alter-abled, BIPOC+, and LGBTQIA2S+ communities. Though many of our buildings are historic, with each renovation we strive to create an accessible venue for a wide range of needs and requirements. Below are some of the ways in which we are endeavoring to make Camp Colton accessible:

  • ADA Wheelchair accessible bathrooms and facilities at the Chapel and Bath House

  • ADA Wheelchair access to Gathering Hall and partially accessible bathroom

  • Priority seating for those with access needs

  • Staffed golf cart for easy navigating of the grounds

  • Voice amplification offered at all live events

  • Closed captions offered at all online programming

  • On-site staff prepared to answer questions about access needs
